Different
Guns, Styles, How To Shoot Them, And
the Forces Involved
What is the sequence of events involved with the
firing of a gun?
This sequence is a relatively simple one.
Once the shooter is sighted in on target they
pause, steady their breathing as to not throw
off the shot, and when they are ready, squeeze
the trigger.
The part that we are interested in is what
happens after the trigger is pulled. In
what seems like an instant many things
happen.
The trigger releases the firing pin, it strikes
the primer and ignites the the powder inside the
casing causing a small explosion.
The force of this explosion propels the bullet
down the barrel and then on down range. At
the same time the force of the explosion pushes
back into the firearm.
This backward force into the shooter is called
Recoil. This among other things is what
will be discussed inside this website.
There are many different styles and
types of firearms most firearms can be
separated into six categories.
Long rifles,
black guns, black powder, sniper rifles,
shotguns, and pistols/revolvers.
